Pastor Jim Black
I have had the pleasure of serving at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks since June of 2003. I began serving in ministry full-time in 1972. Trusting Christ, two months before my twentieth birthday, my life was wonderfully changed. A very short period of time later, hearing a sermon preached by Pastor Vernon Nelms from 2 Kings 2:8-10 on Elisha's request for a double portion of power, I surrendered my life to ministry. Ministry, through the Lord's enabling, has been my purpose for the majority of my life. A verse in the Bible that moved my heart when in college was Acts 20:24, at the moment of reading it became my life's verse.
"But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God".
I married the love of my life, Sandy, July 20, 1974. We have three children, Jodi, Jimmy and Jenny; and we are always happy to share pictures of our grandchildren!
